The muni hub: Type KH

The muni version of our hub is designed for ISIS cranks. We recommend to use Kris Holm crankarms only.

On the push of a button, it gears up by 50%, this means, a 20" wheel works like a 30", a 24" like a 36" coker wheel!

You can shift either at standstill or on the fly, depending on ability and practice!

The strong and robust hub is made for muni applications. We allow jumps up to 1.5m (5").

The development of this hub was made in close partnership with Kris Holm, who tested the hub during more than a year.

You find both logos on the hub: the Kris Holm logo and the logo of schlumpf innovations.

The hub is designed for Kris Holm frames. You can even retrofit the hub to KH frames older than model year 08. These older frames require a modification of one shoulder of the bearing clamp (see installation instructions / special miller).

The dimensions of the bearings are:

Diameter: 42mm
Width: 12mm
Distance from centerline of left bearing to centerline of right bearing: 100mm.

The KH hub comes with a knurled surface on the left bearing holders: this surface, clamped tight in the flanges of the frame, holds the reaction torque of the planetary gearing system.

Gear shift buttons and shifting shaft are made of strong steel with reinforced design to withstand even hard off road use.

The hubs are sealed against dust and spray water. Every hub comes with a hole, covered with a slot screw, that allows lubrication, which is recommended once a year.

Please use the Schlumpf original grease or some good bicycle oil.

Warning

Using a geared hub poses the risk of severe injury or death, due to factors including but not limited to high speeds, falls, longer stopping distances, equipment failure, and incorrect hub installation.

Always wear appropriate protective gear. Practice shifting at low speeds or dismount to shift if you are not comfortable shifting while riding.

This hub has been tested on both roads and rough terrain with drops up to 1.5 m. However, due to variables such as rider weight, skill, riding style, and terrain conditions, it is not possible to warranty this hub as fit for a particular level of terrain difficulty or drop height. While intended for mountain unicycling, it is not appropriate for agressive freeriding (big drops) or trials.

Use common sense and ride within your limits!
